Christine Morales is a highly experienced birth and postpartum doula serving the Hampton Roads areas of Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Suffolk, as well as the greater Richmond area. She has been a doula since 1999, and was certified by DONA (Doulas of North America) in 2001. Christine is mom to four amazing kids!
Christine’s interest in birth work began when she was pregnant with her first child. Having a desire to avoid the effects of pain medications, she sought to learn as much as possible in preparation for what she perceived to be a scary and painful event. She ended up taking a Bradley class, and by chance got a very “natural”-minded nurse at the hospital, who supported her and her husband through a drug-free delivery. Afterward, she felt the need to research how she might help others overcome their fears and have the birth they desired, and discovered that there was a name for the support that her nurse had provided: Doula. A few years later, while coaching her sister-in-law through the looooong, drug-free birth of her first child, Christine discovered that she had natural skill to provide great doula support.
Her doula services include birth and postpartum support, such as prenatal and postpartum visits, continuous labor and birth support, additional support during pregnancy and postpartum via phone, text and email, detailed labor and birth notes, amateur photography and video if desired, a lending library (which also has a lending birth ball available), and most of all, the confident expertise that can only come from years of experience serving families as a doula.
Christine is a woman of many talents! She graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelors degree in liberal arts, and minors in Spanish, psychology, and family and child development. She also serves as a real estate agent, doula-ing families through their home buying/selling experience.
